Lisbon has its own charm and style when it comes to things to see and do, but if looking is more your thing today then you can immerse yourself in the pleasure of enjoying a bird’s eye view of the city from Miradouro de Santa Catarina or ‘Adamastors’ Lisbon viewpoint as it is sometimes known!

Miradouro de Santa Catarina
The mythical figure of Adamastor is sculpted on the rock that is overlooking the Tagus River and the ships that sail from there. This giant of a character is portrayed in the poem ‘The Lusiads’ by Luis de Camoes. The great thing about Miradouro de Santa Catarina is that people can sit anywhere on the steps at any point in the day to enjoy the beauty of a river. The steps and kiosks were added in the year 2013 during a renovation at Adamastor’s Viewpoint. The sunset is even more glorious as the tourists join locals who can enjoy the soundtracks by street musicians which only add to the enchantment of Miradouro de Santa Catarina!
I personally love this spot, a stone’s throw away from barrio alto or downtown cais do sodre you are never very far away from the action. I think it is one of the better Lisbon viewpoints of the Tagus in allowing views of the 25 de Abril Bridge, Christo Rei, Docas, to name but a few, for there are plenty more glorious sights to see from Miradouro de Santa Catarina. Of an evening this pace comes alive and people from all walks of life congregate here to watch the beautiful Lisbon sunset and enjoy a lively atmosphere.
