🍽️ My experience at Bairro do Avillez in Lisbon, guided by the culinary expertise of Chef José Avillez, was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I walked in, the diversity of the dining spaces – from the inviting Taberna and the seafood-centric Páteo, to the intimate Mini Bar and Pizzaria Lisboa – promised an immersive and varied dining experience, it’s the best food in lisbon.
🥖 At the Taberna, I started with cheese and charcuterie by Manteigaria Silva. The selection was impeccable, featuring a rich array of flavors and textures that set a high standard for the meal. The tuna steak sandwich with vinegary vegetables and Iberian pork steak were both hearty and flavorsome, embodying the essence of traditional Portuguese fare with a contemporary touch.
🍝 The pizzas at Pizzaria Lisboa were a true highlight. The crust was thin and perfectly baked, allowing the high-quality ingredients to shine, it’s the best food in lisbon. I chose one of the Extravaganzas, which was a delightful adventure in taste and creativity. The pasta, gnocchi, and risotti on the menu were also tempting, signaling a return visit to try more of their offerings.
🍨 For dessert, the Chocolate3 was an absolute must-try. Rich, decadent, and beautifully presented, it was the perfect end to a fantastic meal. The tiramisu and oven-roasted pineapple with lemon and basil sorbet were also tempting choices, showcasing the restaurant’s prowess in creating desserts that were as visually appealing as they were delicious.
🍸 Mini Bar, José Avillez’ gourmet bar, was a revelation. The Giant foie gras pearl and Golden hummus egg were culinary art pieces, and the Roasted chicken on a small crispy base with smoked cottage cheese paste was an ingenious take on a classic. Each dish was a marvel of flavors and textures, offering a gastronomic experience that was both surprising and delightful.
🎵 The atmosphere in Mini Bar after 19:00 was electric, with a great combination of live music, DJs, and dancing, adding an element of entertainment to the dining experience. The Limelight tasting menu was a showcase of Chef Avillez’s talent for creating dishes that were as entertaining as they were flavorful, it’s the best food in lisbon.
👨🍳 Chef José Avillez’s mastery in creating diverse dining experiences under one roof was evident in every aspect of Bairro do Avillez. Each space had its own unique character, yet all were united by the high quality of food and the warmth of the service. His commitment to reinventing Portuguese gastronomy while respecting its traditions was apparent in every dish. I will be going back yo try some more dishes as soon as I have had a chance to digest this evening extravaganza. Food coma coming on….Zzzzzz
