“Forno d’Oro: The Lisbon Pizza with Authentic Flavors and Artistry”

Home » Listing » Best Restaurants in Lisbon » Forno d’Oro

🍕 The secret to Forno d’Oro’s success, as prominently displayed on their walls, is their dedication to quality and authenticity. Their commitment to using biological yeast, Caputo flour, sourdough, top-quality ingredients from Portugal and Italy, a fermentation time of 36 hours, and wood-fired cooking results in best lisbon pizza that are not just delicious but also light and flavorful. The restaurant takes pride in its process, which is a testament to the care and expertise behind each dish.

🍴 My meal began with a simple yet flavorful bruschetta with tomato and basil. The freshness of the ingredients shone through, setting a high standard for the rest of the meal. The burrata with cherry tomatoes and basil, was a creamy delight, perfectly balancing the tanginess of the tomatoes with the richness of the cheese.

🍕 The highlight of the meal was, of course, the pizza. I opted for their special pizza featuring Alentejo truffles, Serra da Estrela sheep cheese, and Portuguese black pork ham cured in Spain. The combination of flavors was exquisite, with each ingredient contributing to a harmonious and indulgent experience. The traditional Margherita, looked equally impressive, featuring San Marzano DOP tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella DOP, cherry tomatoes, and basil. The artisanal mozzarella, freshly delivered from Italy thrice a week, elevated the dish to a whole new level.

The Best Lisbon Pizza

🍰 For dessert, I chose the classic Tiramisù – light, creamy, and infused with just the right amount of coffee and cocoa. Paired with an Italian craft beer, the Baladin Wayan Sison, the meal was both satisfying and refreshing.

👨‍🍳 Chef Tanka Sapkota’s passion for maintaining high standards and focusing on the quality of national products was evident in every aspect of the meal. His decision to not open more restaurants but instead concentrate on the quality of his current establishments reflects his dedication to culinary excellence.

🌟 By way of a digestive, my visit to Forno d’Oro was a memorable one and lives up to its many accolades. So if you are in the mood for pizza then don’t miss the opportunity to savor some of the finest pizza you’ll find outside of Naples, right in the heart of Portugal’s capital. Forno d’Oro truly lives up to its acclaim, and I can’t recommend it highly enough. Oh go on then, if no-one else is having that last slice…
