Warmly-styled, the Timpanas restaurant serves Fado, Folklore and of course, traditional Portuguese food. Timpanas was born in the early 60’s in one of Lisbon’s most popular neighborhoods, Alcântara, near the docks and is now one of the oldest houses operating in the area. Since then, names such as Maria Teresa de Noronha, Teresa Tarouca, Júlio Proença, contemporary exponent of “Ti Alfredo”, Armando Morais, Maria Valejo, Filipe Duarte, one of the “Marialvas do Fado” and Deolinda Martins have lent their voice to this house. Currently, Timpanas has resident artists Isabel Pinheiro, Ana Marta and Helder Santos, Hugo Edgar (on the Portuguese guitar) and Armando Figueiredo (in the viola). From the kitchen come regional recipes.
