“Belcanto: A Romantic Journey into One of the Best Michelin Restaurants Lisbon Has to Offer”

Home » Listing » Best Restaurants in Lisbon » Belcanto

🌟 I had eagerly been awaiting my visit to Belcanto in Lisbon, led by Chef José Avillez, which, as hoped, was an extraordinary foray into contemporary Portuguese cuisine. As I entered the michelin restaurants lisbon, which boasts two Michelin stars and a spot on “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants List,” I was immediately struck by the sophisticated setting that promised a journey from Chiado’s romantic past to the future.

🍽️ In michelin restaurants lisbon, My adventure began with the “Cenoura com leite de pinhão e azeitona” (Carrot with pine nut milk and olive), a dish that astonished me with its blend of textures and subtle flavors. Each bite was a discovery of Chef Avillez’s ability to transform simple ingredients into a complex and delightful experience.

🦐 The “Carabineiro com caril, couve-flor e maçã verde” (Scarlet shrimp curry, cauliflower, and green apple) was another highlight. The perfectly cooked shrimp, paired with the delicate curry, cauliflower, and tangy green apple, created an exquisite harmony of flavors that showcased the chef’s innovative approach to combining ingredients.

🥗 The “Salada César” de lavagante (European lobster ‘Caesar salad’) was a luxurious take on a classic, blending rich lobster with avocado, tomato water, and a yuzu and truffle emulsion. The creativity and balance of flavors in this dish were truly impressive.

🐟 For the main course in michelin restaurants lisbon, the “Robalo, dashi de legumes, algas e liliáceas” (Sea bass, vegetable dashi, seaweed, and lilies) was a triumph. The sea bass was cooked to perfection, and the vegetable dashi, along with seaweed and lilies, provided a depth of umami flavor that was both unexpected and delightful.

🥩 The “Lombo de vaca maturado” (Aged beef loin) was another exquisite choice, featuring an onion tart, creamed spinach with almond, and truffle sauce. The beef was tender and rich, and the accompanying elements elevated the dish to a new level of culinary excellence.

🍰 For dessert, the “Doce de ovos e limão” (Sweet egg cream and lemon) was a light and refreshing end to the meal. The egg cream was smooth and creamy, with a hint of lemon adding a bright note to the sweetness.

🍷 The wine menu, curated by sommelier Nádia Desidério, was exceptional. The selection showcased the best of Portuguese wines as well as celebrated international references. The wine pairing enhanced each dish, making the meal not just a culinary exploration but also a journey through the diverse world of wines.
